Voices Of Hope Choir

From time to time we'll use the blog to highlight Arts opportunities outside the walls of Sunset. Sometimes they'll have a direct connection to our teammates and other times they will just be stuff going on around time.

Today we're featuring the "Voices of Hope" Choir that Don Hofer conducts.

Voices of Hope Choir is modeled after The Gary Bonner Singers of Southern California and Breath of Aire from Seattle, WA. These groups have found great success in making a difference in the lives of people all over the world. In the
Voices of Hope Choir, our goal is that each person will:

1) Experience a wide variety of musical styles
2) Perform in exceptional venues
3) Fellowship with other musicians
4) Sing challenging music
5) Give to others through the gift of music and raising money to meet specific needs.

Our purpose is to impact the community and the world through the vehicle of Choral Music.

Our mission is to perform benefit concerts that will support and raise awareness of the needs of our community while furthering the art of choral music.

Voices of Hope Choir is supported by dues from the members, fundraising and donations. Vocalists range in age from 15 to 75. The Choir rehearses on Saturday mornings several times a month at Tualatin High School.

Voices of Hope Choir performs a variety of musical styles from Christian Anthems to Show Tunes, Patriotic Songs, Contemporary Christian music, Spirituals and Classical. Music is memorized and accompanied by piano.

As conductor of Voices of Hope Choir, Don Hofer brings over 15 years of experience in Choral Music leadership. Don has B.A. in Music Education and a M.A. in Choral Conducting, both from Azusa Pacifi c University. Don taught Choir at the high school level for 5 years and directed adult choirs in churches for over 10 years. He has been a workshop leader for the ACSI Convention in Anaheim, CA., has worked on several recording projects, and has conducted music premieres for PraiseGathering Music Group at MusiCalifornia. Don and his family are active in local church music ministry.
