Running in costume at the First Run last New Year's Eve - 5K in downtown Portland that starts at midnight!
How/why do you serve at Sunset?
Alpha Course helper/facilitator - I think Alpha is a fantastic course for all Christians and for those exploring Christianity. It helped me understand and make a real commitment to my faith, so I try to support the class in any way I can.
Stage Manager for 5:30 service 1x per month - I'm a night person and sometimes even making the 11 am service is hard for me, so I wanted to help support the evening service and this seemed like a good way to do it!
Church-wide service projects (Bike Fair, Food & Toy Drive, Helping Hands, etc.) - I love community service and the spirit of joy that comes from working together as a group to serve others - one of the things I love most about Sunset!
Your favorite restaurant and why? My old standby is Bastas Trattoria in NW Portland - great food, good prices (for the neighborhood, anyway!), an atmosphere that can be as dressed up or dressed down as you want, and they have their own (free!) parking lot.
What are you passionate about? God, my family, my dog, foster children, music, traveling/experiencing life in other parts of the world, international humanitarian missions, hiking, dancing, camping, chocolate, reading... just to name a few!
If you suddenly won the lottery, what are the first 5 things you’d purchase?
West Beach Resort on Orcas Island (yes, the entire resort!)
Plane tickets to visit my brother and sister-in-law and their two-year-old twins in Tennessee
Pay the deposit for a mission trip to Haiti I've wanted to do for several years now with Haiti Foundation of Hope/Medical Teams International
Dinner for all my friends and family at Bastas
Some much-needed new clothes (I'm starting to feel like a cartoon character!)
What’s your “day job”? Development and Gifts Manager at Chehalem Youth and Family Services, a Christian non-profit providing residential foster care for kids 11-18 and counseling services for the community.
