Living life with intentionality
I will never forget last night. It was one of the most encouraging times in my faith I can remember in a while. We were at rehearsal, and before we began we were gathered together for discussion and prayer. We went around the room (there were probably 25-30 of us), and we shared times in our lives where we were moved closer to God in a worship setting in the context of a church or conference or retreat etc.
To listen to how God had wrapped his arms around people, had clarified things for people, had ministered in unique ways, it was just powerful.
I was thinking about the difference between Sunday morning and the rest of my week. I think one of the main discrepancies, at times, is how intentional we can be at church or a conference or a retreat to expose ourselves to the truth and reality of God… we allow time and space to consider, respond, praise, and be with Him. When we do that we open the door for Him to work in and on our hearts. The truth is we have to be that intentional throughout the week if we expect to connect with Him.
This can and will look different with every one of us; what won't look different is our choice to be intentional in order to live life with Him and to worship Him on more than just Sunday.
Ephesians 4:22-24
You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. (NIV)
