Worship News 6/25

From Jay

Confession
It’s where the healing begins. Think of it as the starting point to eventually running across a finish line. Its where our relationship with Christ began, in repentance, in admitting our need of forgiveness. And it is our path to healing and freedom.

Sunday we want to spend some time with the congregation on both of those themes, confession and healing. At one point this will be on the screens:

What am I holding onto?
What is holding on to me?
What do I need to confess?
Now, imagine those sins…
One by one…
Inside your clenched fist.
That lie you told…
The lust tugging at your heart…
That secret you’re holding onto…
The shame you can’t get free of…
The guilt you feel over the way you acted…
The way you handled the good gifts you were given…
The anger you’re carrying…
The broken relationship you’ve given up on…
The things you said when your friend left the room…
Your selfishness…
The grudge you’re holding onto with your fist still clenched…
Let us silently ask God for His forgiveness
The God of the universe wants so badly to release us
He wants to forgive us
He wants us to let these things go
As a community let us now act as one
And release our sins to God
Open your hands

Then we will spend some time in worship with a focus on healing and giving people opportunity to talk to God. Please join me in prayer for how God will work this Sunday!

For Those Unemployed and Underemployed
and the ones who walk with them...

Unemployment Support Ministry Summer Schedule:
We will meet on July 6, July 20th, August 3rd and 17th. Please note a recent email said we were meeting on July 29th but that was incorrect. Our next meeting is July 6th. Please feel free to invite anyone who would be interested in attending!

Opportunities To Serve

Serve Once A Month – With a Great Team
We are in need of ushers for all 3 services, especially the 11am. If you are available and willing to serve once a month as an usher, it’s a great opportunity to get your feet wet in ministry. Interested? Please contact carriepeeples@sunsetpres.org or 503.292.9293 x3083.

Communion Help
We are looking for people willing to serve once a month helping with communion. Specific positions needed are prep, servers, and clean-up. If you are interested and willing to serve, please email to carriepeeples@sunsetpres.org or call 503.292.9293 x3083.

Come support and bolster the immune system of the weekend services.
Help us inoculate them with powerful prayers.
Each week, a few of us gather to pray over the weekend services. We typically meet on the night of the service rehearsal, which is generally on Thursday. We'd love to have you join us, whenever it might fit in your schedule. Come once, monthly or weekly.

What to expect: We enjoy a devotional time together first, with the whole service team, at 7pm. That lasts about a half hour. Then we break off for a time of prayer that lasts about 45 minutes to an hour. Join us?
Occasionally the day/time varies. With that in mind, contact Melinda melindalgroth@gmail.com to verify the schedule.
