Worship Update 12/11

From Jay

Sunset and you
As I sit down to write this morning, I know what I want to write about, but have zero creativity or brain power, and have literally been staring at the screen for 5 minutes waiting for my fingers to begin moving. They have, as evidence you are reading this. J

I would love to start a discussion with you, if you are willing. For several weeks I have been meeting in the morning on Wednesday’s with about 10 people, basically looking at the DNA of Sunset. We are asking questions like: “What is unique about Sunset?”, or, “As a result of someone being exposed to Sunset, what do we hope happens in their lives?”, or, “What, because of our community and resources, are we uniquely equipped to do to make a difference in this area?”

The reality is, although these types of discussion include a goal of bringing more unity and focus to a church, they can’t just happen in a room with 10 people. They have to be taking place all across the church. It’s important that key leaders have your input and feedback constantly, not just once a year with a survey, etc.

So I am asking for your feedback and response to three questions. You can email me your answers at
jaymckenney@sunsetpres.org Or, you can go to Sunset's Worship Community Facebook Page, and answer these questions in more of a discussion format, I will post this as a note on that page.

What drew you to Sunset originally?
What has you here today?
What would keep you here in the future?

Here are my personal answers to those questions:
What drew me here originally was a strong sense of calling to a ministry role at Sunset.

What has me here today is a continued strong sense of calling, along with relationships and consistently seeing the hand of God work in people’s lives.

What would keep me here in the future is relationships, a continued sense of calling to serve here, and to continue to witness people’s lives changed spiritually as a result of God’s work through this church body.
Your turn!

In order to facilitate better communication and serve the needs of adopted families, there’s been a "Wants" and "Gots" discussion board created for Food and Toy.The purpose is to create a place for you to post some of the bigger needs of families that have been adopted. It is also a place to post items that you have and no longer need at your house. Think of it as a modified "Craigslist" for Food and Toy.Follow this link and check it out... then pass it on to all Sunset members to help get the word out:
