From Jay
Light
A few weeks back I was at Cannon Beach for a day retreat with some of the staff at my church. It was a gorgeous, windy day at the coast, and a much appreciated change of pace from the normal work day. We had a lot of activities together, including a kite contest using newspaper, tape and ribbons. My kite was pathetic, and despite strong winds and my best effort, it dragged and bobbed hopelessly on the ground.
We had an hour to ourselves, which we could spend with God however we wanted. I grabbed my Bible and a notebook and headed for the beach. After some reading and journaling, I walked down the beach toward Haystack, talking with God and reflecting on the beauty of the ocean.
I was still carrying my Bible and notebook when I walked by a couple heading the other direction. Without even thinking, I hid my Bible behind my notebook as they got closer. Within seconds I asked God, “Why in the world did I do that??? What am I ashamed of?” Do I believe Jesus is the hope of the world or not? Do I believe He speaks to us through the Bible and that His Word contains the greatest message of all time or not? I put the Bible back on the other side of my notebook and walked by them.
How many times a day do we face this same type of decision? We hear an off color joke or some gossip, and we are faced with laughing, or joining in, or standing up for Christ. We see and hear the world’s answers and standards for life, and we either accept them as our own or cling to the truth inside that calls us to something greater, something true.
You make more of an impact than you know. The little things, the little actions and decisions… the things you say or don’t say… do or don’t do… they can either shine your light or snuff it out. Do you believe that Christ lives in you? Do you believe He is the hope of the world?
Galations 2:20
My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Come support and bolster the immune system of the weekend services.
Help us inoculate them with powerful prayers.
Each week, a few of us gather to pray over the weekend services. We typically meet on the night of the service rehearsal, which is generally on Thursday. We'd love to have you join us, whenever it might fit in your schedule. Come once, monthly or weekly.
What to expect: We enjoy a devotional time together first, with the whole service team, at 7pm. That lasts about a half hour. Then we break off for a time of prayer that lasts about 45 minutes to an hour. Join us?
Occasionally the day/time varies. With that in mind, contact Melinda melindalgroth@gmail.com to verify the schedule.
