Worship Update 4/29

Update from Jay

There are a couple of things I want to share with you…

I was involved in a discussion this week that revolved around the current state of our finances. As you might know, we’re experiencing a downturn in our giving and Pastor Ron shared that on Sunday. A huge answer to prayer took place! The staff learned this week that gifts totaling $86k were given towards our current $104k shortfall, we can all be praising God for His answer through generous hearts.

Tuesday night I met with the HR team to present updated job descriptions and to move forward in the process to hire for Jill Hofer’s position. That position is currently called Choir Director/Musical Arranger. The meeting went well. Soon a small search team will begin the search for that position. This team will most likely consist of myself, Bob Thomas (who is WCA’s elder), as well as Tom Davis and Heather Krieves (who are both on the HR Team).

There is truly never a dull moment at Sunset. There is always a great mix of inspiration and overwhelming challenge to working here. I am consistently blown away with just how many people, wonderful quality people give of their time and talent and energy to make this place what it is. Even just sitting in the HR meeting this week, I thought about how these smart and gifted people were there, to help me, to help Sunset, out of their love for Christ and His people… it’s humbling. I love this place.

I went to part of the high school retreat last Friday, and was deeply moved and impacted by the Holy Spirit working through Mike Giering, Tyler and their teams. God is moving in that ministry.

I am praying about what God has next and who He is preparing to join our team with regard to the hole that Jill will leave. I would covet you joining me in that prayer.

Run towards your Savior today.
Jay

Come support and bolster the immune system of the weekend services.
Help us inoculate them with powerful prayers.
Each week, a few of us gather to pray over the weekend services. We typically meet on the night of the service rehearsal, which is generally on Thursday. We'd love to have you join us, whenever it might fit in your schedule. Come once, monthly or weekly.

What to expect: We enjoy a devotional time together first, with the whole service team, at 7pm. That lasts about a half hour. Then we break off for a time of prayer that lasts about 45 minutes to an hour. Join us?
Occasionally the day/time varies. With that in mind, contact Melinda melindalgroth@gmail.com to verify the schedule.
